JL Audio Introduces New A-Series Amplifiers
That Are Ahead of the Curve
February, 15, 2006

Miramar, FL—January 2006—JL Audio is proud
to announce a new series of amplifiers that deliver the
best value to date for JL Audio customers. Designed by
four of the most experienced 12-volt engineering minds
in car audio today: Bruce Macmillan-Sr. Design Engineer;
Keith Harbaugh, Dan Borzone and David Krich, these high
performance amplifiers are packed with value and offer
many of the same technologies integrated into JL Audio’s
highly regarded “Slash” series.
• Advanced
Rollback Protection System–advanced
thermal and low-impedance protection to virtually eliminate
annoying amplifier shut-down events because of the intelligent,
unregulated power supply which limits available peak voltage
until the amplifier returns to a safe temperature range.
If the impedance is lower than optimum for the amplifier
is present at the outputs, the A Series amplifier will
roll back peak voltage to protect itself without shutting
down.
High Mass, High Integrity Chassis Design—Rock-solid
aluminum chassis extrusion offers significantly more mass
and surface area to dramatically improve thermal performance.
Absolute Symmetry Cass A/B Amplifier Circuits—This
revolutionary Class A/B patented circuit invented by JL
Audio’s Sr. Design Engineer Bruce Macmillan, employs
pairs of identical N-Channel MOSFET transistors while retaining
true buffering from the load impedance. This results in
less distortion at lower impedances and cleaner sound.
• Patented
Class D Amplifier Circuits—Another
Bruce Macmillan design is the patented Class D output circuit
utilizing a discrete control section and a unique feedback
loop design that eliminates the compromises due to weak
damping of the driven load and poor power regulation which
Class D amplifiers are typically known for. The result
is tight, clean bass reproduction and vastly improved electrical
efficiency.
• Real-World
Power Specifications—JL
Audio believes that their customers deserve to know what
level
of clean power to realistically expect in a real-world
installation. For this reason, power ratings for all A-Series
amplifiers are derived at 12.5 volts, which the company
considers to be far more realistic vehicle voltage than
the 14.4 volt standard now in common use.
Lastly,
the A-Series amplifiers feature Intelligent Input Sections
featuring JL Audio’s
differential-balanced input architecture which effectively
controls noise and
ensures compatibility with a wide variety of source units,
including most OEM systems.
Availability: JL Audio plans to ship the new A Series
amplifiers in April 2006.
