Subwoofers
Buying Tips
For
best results, determine how much bass you want
in your system. There is a balance between several
competing benefits. Box size, amplifier power woofer
cost and frequency extension. You can optimize
any three of these benefits but not all four.
Smaller
woofers are generally deliver faster, tighter
response. Larger woofers can move more air and,
as a result, play lower frequencies easier.
A
decent woofer in the right box is 10 times better
than a great woofer in the wrong box.
Always
use the recommended enclosures for the subwoofers.
This will yield the best possible frequency
response and the most reliable system.
Make
sure that your amplifier can handle (and is optimized)
for the total impedance load for the system.
